Group Texting Errors? 1520 Dev Preview 8.1.1

Happened to me today. I deleted the texts and shut down my phone. Once I started it back up, I immediately received a text from the faulty group text, but, this time, I was no longer in the list of recipients.
I've hardbooted my phone 6-10 times now (I really wish that this is an exaggeration - it is not). This "solution" is not perfect and guarantees nothing. It's totally random as to when it will work and when it will not.

In short: It's really great that it worked you, sir. :) And I really AM happy for you. I hope that your phone continues to operate normally. Mine is about to be crushed into a wall.

EDIT: And I just hard-booted my phone for the 10+th time in the last 48 hours... just received a brand new group text WITHOUT my phone # in the list. I hate this problem so very much.

I hear you. My solution, as it were, is not much more than a quick fix...maybe only working for me. For whatever reason, after I go through the steps I've listed above, the issue goes away for a couple of weeks. But, it always comes back....
Interestingly enough, it has never happened on my 1320, only my 1520. I thought it was an AT&T thing, but I'm beginning to think that it's a Dev Preview thing. I could be totally wrong though....likely that I am. Regardless, I'm sorry that you're having such a bad time with your phone. :(

I'm happy to report no further issues today. The "curse" has moved on, however temporarily. :)

I was running vanilla 8.1 w/ CYAN from AT&T and decided to see if adding DP would help my issue.
Well, the answer is no it did not....but I can get it to work properly by turning off group messaging, rebooting phone, and turning the phone back on w/ no need to delete the messaging thread(s)

I'm just wondering why the issue only pops up for me every 15 to 20 days or so. Does it happen to you all the time or more sporadically???

I've been running into the same issue for a month now as well. I had this problem with 8.1 (non-DP) and then switched to the 8.1.1 DP and the problem came back. I've tried hard shutdowns, deleting my name from my contacts, and about a half dozen theories. I too am an AT&T customer but I think the problem is more than just the provider. It seems to happen when I go from a weak/no signal back to a signal. Looking through the comments I noticed one person had a similar issue where Pandora lost connection and the problem arose but when the phone was restarted it fixed both the text problem and the Pandora connection. What do y'all think?

Interesting observations. I'll have to keep an eye out on my signal strength. On a somewhat similar not, every morning on my way to work, when I am leaving my Wi-Fi signal area and the LTE service is taking over, during that time, all data connectivity is lost for a few seconds until I am completely out of range of my house. If I'm opening up Xbox Music or Windows Central during that transition from Wi-Fi to AT&T, I get connectivity warnings or the app just simply sits there "opening" endlessly until I back out of it and try again further away from the house. I wonder if the group text issue arises if and when the group text is received during a Wi-Fi/LTE signal issue???

Shoot. I was really hoping there was going to be a solution here as I am now getting these duplicate text messages. I will try the 'fix' mentioned on the first page and see how long it lasts me. I just picked up my 1520 as an upgrade from the 920. I really only noticed the problem as of today with my first group message since my phone finally finished all of the dev preview updates.

The problem is very much still around for me. I've just given up on posting when it hits. :(

Hi guys. I've encountered the same group (and picture) text issue when I upgraded to cyan on my 920. For me, I was able to resolve it by copying the same exact APN settings in Access Point and created it as custom APN. Haven't had any issues since. I'm thinking this could work on other Lumias as well.

Maybe the update tripped up some APN settings and creating it as a custom one resets some things. Who knows. I hope it works for you guys.

An interesting point! Unfortunately, the "Access Point" system app does not work on a phone that is running the Dev Preview right now. :(

That's because this is now built into the phone. If you got to Settings and open the Cellular+SIM settings panel, you can there. Just click the SIM Settings and turn on the Manual APN settings and enter them in.

And now I've learned something. Thank you, sir!

This same thing is happening to me on Cricket with a Lumia 635. Never had any issues when I was previously on AT&T with a 920.

Very odd!
