Groupme vs. Whatsapp

Hey forum!
So I have both groupme and whatsapp apps and I seem to have a pretty even spread on both apps in terms of friends that use them. Since an app is only as good as the folks that use them, which do you prefer to use? I have a friend and some family members I want to woo over as well but can't decide which is "best."

I like Groupme but it can get annoying when you're not part of the conservation. I haven't tried Whatsapp yet.
