Has anyone else been charged for their Surface Pro 2 pre order?

Order at microcenter: Microsoft : Tablets : iPads & Tablets : Computers : Micro Center
They don't have the 512gb version. I ordered the 256gb one. They sent me a fedex tracking number monday, expected to be at my house Tuesday. Yes I overnighted it haha. After the disappointment of being canceled by Microsoft, I want is baby asap.
Thanks for the heads up! Didn't even realize my local Micro Center store in town is still in business all these years (seems to be a smaller, less trafficked version of Fry's).

When I saw your post last night, the local store had qty 10 of the SP2 256GB in stock. This morning it was down to 9, then I left the store with 3 units (for my family) I plan to wait for the 512GB before making additional purchases... While there I also got the last black and last purple Type Cover 2's, Touch Cover 2, and the Arc & Wedge touch mice. They were pushing their own extended warranties but I said no thanks.

Then I visited the local Microsoft Store (they mentioned that they had one SP2 256GB this morning but already sold it, hah). I ended up getting Microsoft's "consumer" extended warranty x 3. It's $149 per device for 2 yrs and up to 2 accidental damage incidents ($49 deductible each time). They also offered a commercial warranty for $299 covering 3 yrs, same 2 incidents but without any deductible... Each warranty is tied to a specific Surface S/N, and I guess it didn't matter if the unit was actually bought elsewhere.

And surprise, surprise, this Microsoft Store also got 2 Docking Stations in stock, but for some reason were only supposed to sell it to businesses, whatever that means? But they still let me buy both units using my wife's company name. Unfortunately they didn't have any other accessories in stock.

Then I visited a local Best Buy and bought another magenta Type Cover 2 and a Wireless Adapter.

It's funny I always buy electronics online and haven't bought locally in a long time. But did just that today, thanks to Microsoft cancelling all my pre-orders

P.S. This is my first experience with any Surface and I haven't gotten that far yet. But I already noticed some production batch variance from unit to unit. One unit's power connector seems to be positioned just slightly off angle, such that the pen docks a bit slanted and there's more of a gap between the head of the pen and the side of the unit. Whereas the other two units dock the pen more securely (I have to apply more force just to pull the pen out).

Also, another unit's kickstand has noticeably more wiggle at each notched position, and it makes a louder noise moving from one position to the next, compared to the other two units.

My 512 from the MS store finally shipped today. Will have it in hand tomorrow. Dock arrived today, the keyboard and mouse have been here a week. It'll be nice to have a computer to attach them to.

Decided I want one more SP2 for another family member and don't want to wait for the 512.

So headed back to local Micro Center this morning after checking online that they still had qty 4 of the 256 model in stock (and after checking that the local Microsoft Store didn't get any more units).

Turns out, another guy got to the store right before me, and cleaned out all 4 units (as well as all the accessories) for his office, bummer :(

In fact I was told he was still at the checkout line.

Guess it's back to waiting for me...

Well...I pre-ordered with Best Buy in Canada the day they went on sale. Why? Because the Microsoft Store site did not have pre-order for 512GB units day one. After a few days Microsoft store had the 512GB models available for pre-order but with a ship date of Oct 25th. I knew in the back of my head there was no way I was getting my Best Buy pre-order on time. About a week after that, I received an email from Best Buy stating that the item will not ship on the release date but will ship within two weeks of its release. They also gave me a $25 online store (only) gift card. Since then there has been no communication. A few emails have produced nothing other than, "We will get back to you."

Its now been a full two weeks since the original (revised) shipping date for my Surface Pro 2 512GB model, and there has been no information. Best Buy order status still shows processing, in fact you can't even select the 512GB model from the online store any more.

Delivery with these products has been unbelievable. When I pre-ordered my Surface RT last year it was almost a week after the original date by the time I received it. Frustrating.
