Does anyone have a recommendation for headphone/microphone set for your phone? I've used the pair that came with my 800 and they're decent, but I miss my apple earpods. One thing though: I can't stand in-ear buds.

I have the same problem. I hate in-ear buds. I think the HTC 8X's in-box earbuds are great

If you're willing to spend a bit of money buy the Nokia purity pro wireless headphones. I have and its great, NFC pairing and Bluetooth audio is great. The only thing I don't like about it is probably the price, 350 from expansys or amazon.

I have a set of the wired purity pro and don't care for their sound at all, any idea how different they sound?

I'm especially interested in something I could walk or drive (with one ear w/mic) with.

I would recommend an the wireless beats headphones. They are a little pricey but in my opinion they are great.

I bought some earpods for mine and have sacrificed the usage of my mic for them.

I too, loathe in-ear headphones.

I wouldn't recommend Beats as you're paying for just the name and a pair of earphones that have an EQ forced within them. If you are looking for good quality, and something that is easy with the ears, I would recommend the Shure SE535 IEMs. Paired with lossless audio (WMAL), you'll have a great sound coming from the phone (when the EQ is compensated correctly to remove any flatness to the sound).

I know the SE525s are in-ear but they don't feel like earbuds in that sense. The way they fit to the ear, it makes them more like a hybrid really.

Bluetooth earphones are never a good idea; the lack of bandwidth will seriously degrade the audio quality, and should someone be using Bluetooth nearby, it can also interfere.

Nukey

i forgot the specific model number - but i recommend the monoprice 8320 or some number like that - cheap but great value with cloth wire, gold jack, pretty decent drivers iirc (but no mic/button thing)
