help needed regarding windows id!!!!

I created a windows live id as its needed for using the market. But I entered the wrong year by mistake and now it won't let me download anything from the market because it is saying my account is underage
I read online that I have to master reset the phone but will it do anything to my sim card? I have no problem losing everything on the phone but I don't want my sim card to mess up
Also will the master reset also work without the sim card?

It shouldn't mess up your sim card. Ive done it before. And yes, as long as you can access settings, then you can reset with or without sim card.
