Help on installing programs

I hate to ask these silly questions, but I am a newbie to WinMo.

I am trying to load Pocket Shield and Gsen on Diamond.

I download onto pc, transferred with Active Syn, found in folders on Diamond,
found in Applications, but cannot get them to funciton. P.Shield seems to be missing some app one phone, so possibly ignore that or I will reload.

I'm sure I will have the same problems with other programs. Can someone just explain how to make applications load and work????
