Help updating my Lumia 520

Hello all!
I have a Lumia 520 which I haven't used in a long time and it's currently on
OS version: 10.0.12534.59
Firmware Version: 3058.50000.1425.0001
(It's very old, I know)

Today I decided to update it but it just won't happen. First time the Windows Insider app wasn't getting updated, after a hard reset it worked and after the update downloaded, it said "Update downloaded but couldn't be opened" TWICE.
I hard reset once again only to find that my tile screen (main screen) is gone and I only see app list.

Please help me what do I do? I wasted my whole day on this =(

Since hard reset is not working. Try to restore using windows recovery tool. Then again update the phone.
