So I bought my gf a surface. From time to time, she compares web browsing on surface to ipad. Specifically, she cannot view the following 2 websites properly on surface:
esteelauder.com
louisvuitton.com

The websites are very sluggish and freeze :( I want to show her that the surface can do what the ipad can. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't really see anything unusual about the estee lauder site, but the Louis Vuitton site appears to be all flash on the desktop, while the iPad gets a mobile version because it doesn't support flash. I also don't have a surface to compare with, on the surface are you getting the flash version?

the problem is that surface's processing power is too weak to handle those 2 websites. IE freezes and crashes :(

and yeah, I got the full desktop version on those 2 websites.

You seem to have answered your own question, albeit probably incorrectly.
The processing power is not to blame here.

It is an incorrect assumption that the Surface's processing power it too weak. The Vuitton site locks up at a black screen and the Estee Lauder site immediately freezes in the Metro browser on my I5 laptop. The result is the same as my Surface tablet. While they both load quickly in Firefox , they are rather sluggish in IE10 on the desktop as well. I can assure you that the I5 laptop is not underpowered. This is almost certainly an issue of website design, flash implementation, and/or a lack of compatibility with IE. Unfortunately there will occasionally be a site that doesn't work properly but it is not the Surface tablet's processing power that is to blame.

Good gosh, thank your lucky stars she can't see those websites! Imagine how much money you, er, I mean she is saving! It's another way the Surface is more proficient to use. Blocks those pesky, expensive websites!

This is correct.

My i7 laptop cannot load the pages either. It has nothing to do with Surface. It's an issue with website design.

I tried but it only works partially. When I click on a product, it cannot load the picture of that product. Meanwhile, the same mobile phone loads just fine on my phone. Thanks for the help though.

Well, it is actually not like that. She has a co-worker who is an ipad fan. When my friend first brought the Surface to work, the co-worker said the ipad is way more classy and elegant. Yesterday, the co-worker asked my gf to check if some products on LV and EL are good. My gf went to the websites but could not open them, so she felt very embarrassed.

Your gf should not feel embarrassed that her browser only renders properly coded sites while webkit hacks and works around shoddy web developers.

You'd think that such "classy" places would be able to afford some decent web developers.

the designer sites do suck as others have mentioned. also they recognize the surface as a desktop and the ipad as a mobile device so the mobile loads on the ipad. just go to bloomingdales.com they have better customer service anyway :)
