My sister just bought one of these. What an expensive laptop! I hope she doesn't have any problems because she will be very disappointed.

Sadly, it probably isn't a matter of "if", it's a matter of "when" she has problems with it. All SBs suffer from pretty much the same crop of issues, it's just a matter of how you use it that determines how apparent or irritating they are (e.g. those who shut their machines down after use probably see far fewer issues than those who allow the machine to sleep or hibernate in between).

I don't know but I haven't faced any issue with my SB since I got it from Dec last year. And I've been using my machine for coding, office, drawing, retouching photos and gaming days to days.
But may be it's because I only used sleep (then auto hibernate after a while at noon break) at day time and shut it down at night time while I'm sleeping. Then turn it on (it's blazing fast) for a new day and repeat it.
TBH, it's even stabler than my old Dell SXPS :))

The mobile skylake chips all have sleep power consumption issues (even other manufacturers have had these). You never even had the battery drain excessively during sleep? Hibernate was the more stable option for awhile, though even that had issues with the Hello camera for at least a month or two earlier this year. The sleep power issue still isn't truly resolved... (in fact, it appears that issue has returned at least for some folks since the most recent firmware/driver updates).

Again, though, it is how you use the SB that will determine if you see an issue now, later, sometimes... it seems like every time I get to trusting my SB again, it goes and does something funky. Like going to "sleep", but hanging somehow, getting hot and draining the battery down to 30% in 5 hours of just sitting closed, on a table (with all applications closed prior to putting it to sleep, too). And then there are just folks who are accepting of some of these hiccups. For the money I shelled out, I want dang near perfection. And I still don't have it despite being close a few times. FYI -- I have had my SB since the day the device launched, and I have not exchanged it once.

I just bought my surface book and spent over 2,000. 256/i7/8/dGPU. So far I have had no issues except 1. The screen briefly turns off and back on when attaching and detaching the screen. Other than that just the usual crappy issues with Edge, this site is nearly unusable, what a joke.

One other thing that I haven't seen mentioned: I notice some blur/slow jittery type movement when minimizing and maximizing any window. I compared it to my pro 2 and desktop and it is a noticeably different experience. Anyone else notice this? Cant find anything on Google.

Believe me, in my country, 2000$ is a big fortune (very big, with some normal people, it can be nearly 1 whole year of income without spending anything), so if my SB had any hiccup or issues, I'd be the very first one to rage about it :D

But as I said, no issue so far (more than half a year of usage now and still counting). I usually start working at 9AM till 6PM, then go home and continue surfing web, drawing things or retouching images, playing games (hey, Steam just sale...) till late night around 2-3AM. I put the SB to sleep on noon break at office for around 2 hours and another 4 hours at home (so you can assume it will automatically turns to hibernate). Then I shut it down and leave it there until next day (with or without charging).

Yet, no issue, no heat up, no battery drain (not more than 2-4% after each sleep period, I assume this is normal), no BSOD,no Hello issue, no everything... It just work!

I got my SB after launching about 2 months, then the first thing I did with it was full reset, wipe out everything, then update everything, have to make sure it's full reset then update, everything.

The screen turn off then back on is normal behavior, I think. It has to switch the battery and/or the GPU.

I don't notice any jiggery, can you please more specific?

the maximizing and minimizing windows just seem slow, they are kind of blurry/jittery when the animation is taking place. If that makes sense. It's not a big deal, just something i noticed.

I also noticed i have a lot of failed updates in windows update but my pc says its up to date. What can i do to install these updates? I tried all the trouble shooting options provided by microsoft but nothing works, its still the same. I posted this issue about the screen flickering on and off on twitter and surface support responded and let me know to install all latest updates and firmware updates. When i check i see the firmware updates failed so i was hoping that if they were successful they would fix this issue. I'm wondering if this doesn't even matter if the cumulative updates were successful and the firmware updates are included in those? I'm basically not sure if i really am up to date or i have firmware/updates that need to be installed still.Screenshot (6).jpg

Wanna trade Surface Books? LOL! You're lucky. Seriously. Very lucky. ;)

I've been really tempted to wipe my SB and just start clean again from a Windows 10 image and the driver pack from MS, but it just takes so much time ... and I don't want to end up with worse issues after all that work, you know?
