Hotmail/Outlook.com not syncing completely

Whenever I try to manually sync my hotmail, I get an error saying there it hasn't been able to sync in almost 3 months. I get emails when it syncs itself but not all of my emails come through to the phone.

I've tried changing my primary alias from hotmail to outlook.com and back. I tried creating another email account using the outlook.com email but it can't find the address. I tried changing the properties of the hotmail setting but it is grayed out and won't allow changes since it is my phone's primary account. What am I missing here? I'd like to avoid a hard reset.

Depending on how many emails you have in the account (and your stamina) I'd log in to the account from a PC and have a hunt through the emails. I have had a similar issue a while back on an exchange account that was caused by an email on the server side with a funky attachment. I think I found it by looking at my email from when I thought the issue started and deleted a few emails with attachments. Eventually I deleted one and then everything worked from there on out.

Thanks DavidM. I found the issue on another thread. It seems I had to turn off messaging archive and it started to sync again.

Yupp that's the trick lol.. You can turn the message backup on again after your mails have been synced
