How can I do a hard reset on my Nokia Lumia 520?

I can't do hard reset in my Nokia Lumia 520

Hi, I have Nokia Lumia 520 upgraded to Denim version. All of sudden, I started to face a problem in my phone. Whenever I use any application (even when I try to just open message, photo, videos, calculator, calendar or any other application), phone gets switch off and then it switches on.

I tried to do hard reset by both the ways (by going to setting-about-reset phone and even by hardware combination buttons that is volume up, volume down, power, volume down after exclamation sign) but it is not successful.

I also tried to use window phone recovery tool but it's again unsuccessful.

After that I tried to erase my phone through account.microsoft.com/device - find my phone - erase but again no success.

Please suggest what to do to fix the problem now ??

Note:

1) There is no problem of the battery as when I tried to do the hard reset, the battery was 100%.

2) I did hard reset once about 2-3 months back. Not sure if that is causing any issue.

Try this...

Power down the phone and remove the battery. Remove the SIM and microSD cards as well.

Open LSRT on your computer. If you don't have it, get it here: How can I recover/reset/restore my phone software? - Microsoft - USA Let LSRT get to the screen where it asks you to connect your phone.

Connect the phone via USB but without the battery in. Hold the Volume Down Button and seat the battery so that it boots to the exclamation screen. Select LSRT option for my phone does not start up or respond.

If that does not work, join the site so you can reply in this thread and we will try to get you more help/ideas.

Sorry... You had not mentioned trying the battery out > plug into USB > insert battery to complete connection trick. Also I was recommending Lumia Software Recover Tool as it is known to work with the "battery trick" and I can not confirm WPRT will do so.

Can you state clearly you tried LSRT and it failed with the "my phone does not start up or respond" option and the "battery trick" combined?

If these methods fail... Seek qualified repair, but the cost would probably be greater than the value of the 520...

Sir - Thank you for your valuable advise. I used window phone recovery tool earlier and not the Lumia Software Recovery Tool.

I will try to use Lumia Software Recovery Tool with the battery trick.

Do u think, it can be a motherboard issue ??

I have one more question and I hope u don't mind it. When phone is rebooting, instead of pressing volume down key to get the exclamation sign I press the volume up key. It then shows a lightning and a gear.what does this means ?? What it is for ?? What does it do ??

Sir - I tried my phone by LSRT with Battery Trick but as soon as installation of software starts, it gets failed by giving error 0X80131500 many times. What does that error means. Please advise what to do now.

You really don't need to go to all those steps all you need to do is go to settings.. About.. Reset phone.
If you want a clean install don't apply your backup.
If you want to apply the backup then do.
**If you can backup your phone beforehand. Settings.. Backup.. Apps+Settings**

Have you tried taking out the battery (while phone is still on) and leave it out for at least a minute.
