How can I fix a Contacts and Skype problem (WP 8.1)?

Contacts and Skype problem (WP 8.1)

Ever since a Skype update a few weeks ago, things seem haywire with my contacts (People app)

I've unlinked entries connect to Skype and had two separate entries for the same name. I manually added the info from one instance to the other one, in order to make one good entry. Then I deleted the other.

But, then sometime later the delete one was back in there!
Then sometime after that I was gone. I wondered if it was sync old data or something, but this back and forth has gone on, for over a week.

I did the above for two contacts only, and one seems to worse than the other. WP 8.1 on a L1020.
