How can I unlock a Lumia 820? other ideas to use it ?

Hello, I have an old Lumia 820 but since a year I changed carrier and the new one gave a new phone. I would like to use it or give it to my grandmother. The problem is that is locked with my old carrier and is not very popular here in my new place.

A year ago I tried to unlock it but I think there was not an easy way. This already changed? I dont mind if I will risk it, because is already getting dust.

I already tried with the carrier, but he is asking for the original ticket and I obviously dont have.

You can try one of the websites that sells unlock codes it will cost you around 20-30 bucks though...
