I didn't know about Google Wallet. So is Windows Phone currently the only OS without a working payment system?

Windows Phone does/did have one instance where a French carrier supported the NFC payment system. Google Wallet is not that a big success either.

It will be interesting to see retailers like Best Buy who turned off their NFC payment system in cash register a year of two back and still refuses to turn it back on will change their mind with the arrival of Apple Pay.

if everyone (banks, phone companies, etc) decided to not be greedy and worked together instead of coming up with ways to make money, this NFC debacle could have been fixed years ago

Wallet in WP is one of the most ******** features in all of WP. It's so incredibly useless.

There's actually a single app that I've seen that uses Wallet really well in WP 8.1, and that's Buckstar. It uses the new membership card layout that 8.1 makes available, as well as the APIs to automatically update the card value as well.

But agreed, overall it's pretty much useless.
