How do I back up my phone?

Windows Central Question

When I click "Back up now" I get the following error:

We couldn't back up your data. To find out more, look up error code 0x80004004

Searching that error code provides no help at all, mostly Windows Defender results. I have plenty of OneDrive space.

I'm on 10.0.10586.26

I really want to reset my phone, having many issues but I would like to back everything up first.
 
I already did that. Didn't work.

Something is really messed up. Edge won't sync favorites, messages won't sync or backup. Camera Roll works. Don't know what's going on.

I have read people having backup issues due to app setting backups. Did you try to turn off all apps and see if it will backup?

Also, for the last link i posted, confirm that the backups were actually deleted: https://onedrive.live.com/Options/DeviceBackups
 
App setting backup isn't even showing up for me. And I checked there are no backups on OneDrive.
Maybe something to do with OneDrive? My Edge favorites are syncing. My texts aren't saving or syncing.

I'm going to try to see if Microsoft support chat can help me. I'll try that tomorrow.
 
To follow up if anyone else has this problem.

I tried the Contact Support app that Microsoft won't let you delete from your phone. And they just blew me off. Told me to go to the support forums for help.

So frustrating. Guess I have to suck it up and do a hard reset and lose everything.
 
I got blown off like that too! Isn't their job supposed to be SUPPORT??
Why are they getting paid when we have to fix our own problems and support ourselves!!
