How do I get rid of Cortana?

I've tried to turn Cortana off in every single Settings screen I could find or have been guided to, but it doesn't make any difference. It still starts up at random, and asks me to ask it something, or tells me it 'didn't quite get that'.... the thing is this.... there is NOTHING, repeat NOTHING that a personal assistant can do for me on a phone., and so I just want to shut it down for good and hopeful;ly delete it. If all you can tell me is that I've got to flash a different ROM, then don't bother to answer; otherwise, sensible comments please....

BTW, running NOKIA 1520 Windows 10 build 14393.105

flashing a different rom, wont help you as cortana is now available in most of the markets. i personally never tried turning off cortana but i do get an option after a hard reset to turn on cortana> not now or yes lets begin. you can try that.
