How Do I get the Start Menu instead of the Start Screen on Surface Pro 6?

Hi All,

My client bought a Surface Pro 6 running Windows 10 (I didn't get the exact version as I was ready to toss it out the window). I spent 4.5 hours last night trying to get rid of the Start Screen and get the Start Menu. I used to be able to right click Start and go to properties. I went to settings and turned off the start screen to no avail. Restarted the machine, logged off and back on, etc. I have spent another 3 hours searching today and i cannot find anything on it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Is Tablet Mode enabled? If yes, turn it off.

No, first thing I checked. Maybe turn it on and off will do the trick. I'll give it a try...

Maybe try a two-button restart which worked for this person who was stuck in tablet mode. I've never heard of it before, but worth a shot.
