How do I remove myself from Facebook Events permanently?

Why do previous Facebook events that I have been invited to but declined continue to show up in my Windows Phone Calendar?

In your calendar, go to options. Make sure that only "attending" is selected and "invited" is NOT selected.

I know how to disable invited events from appearing in my calendar. In the Facebook App for iOS and Android, events declined do not appear in the user's calendar, even if the 'invited' check-box is ticked. Why is this not the case in Facebook for Windows Phone?
