How do I restore my missing Messaging Icon?

My Messaging / SMS icon has vanished from my Nokia Lumia 1020 screen. How do I gt it back?

The first-aid approach in this case is to swipe to your App list, scroll down to "Messaging", tap and hold on "Messaging" until a pop-up menu appears, then tap on "Pin to Start". Your Messaging app should be pinned back to your Start Screen.

Go to the position on screen where you dropped the icon initially, long press, the blank icon will select. Now unpin it. Then you can go to ur app list and pin in again.
This error happens usually after the app has updated.
