How do I send a text on my Nokia 635?

Finding the TEXT icon

This is probably a very dumb question but I am just finding my way round a new smart phone (Nokia 635) and while I have managed to make a phone call I cannot find how to send a text. How do I find an icon that gets me to text page?

You mean SMS? Then find the smiley messaging icon in the list of your apps on the right of your start screen

It gets labeled "Messaging" in the App list.
