Hi there.
First step, on either mobile or desktop, is to activate Cortana. You can either press the search button, or say "Hey Cortana" if you have that setup.
From there it's simple. You can say or type: "Remind me to tell my Wife to pickup the milk." or "Remind me to deposit the check at Chase Bank on Thursday."
