How do I stop my Nokia Lumia 635 connecting to the internet.

I have just purchased a Nokia Lumia 635 and have 50mb of internet usage per month via my internet/mobile package. I would like to know how I make sure my Nokia doesn't connect to the internect when I don't want it to. I am worried incase it updates apps etc and uses up all my internet allowance. (This is the first mobile phone I've had so don't understand all this technology.)

First I hope the 50 is 500.
Go to store > push the three dots ... > tap settings > switch "Only get update over WiFi " ON.

Furthermore check data sense it helps to control the usage.

Also check apps you use to dissable updates over data. See in settings of these apps.

And you always can switch if the data connection in settings > mobile+SIM
