How is the battery life in mobile build 10166?

Re: how is battery life in mobile build 10166 ?

Battery life is realistic. Its not bad. My phone lasts about 11 hours on medium use before the next charge I use an 830 not better than 8.1 but its good. Also, I suggest giving your phone tine to settle into the new os. Battery life always improves after like two to three days.

This pretty much sums it up. The battery seemed to just drain in build 10149. Now it lasts almost the whole day with moderate use. If I play any games, like Candy Crush, it does seem to drain a lot more.

It could still be better. In 8.1, the battery lasted all day and into the next day with moderate use. I won't expect that of W10 Mobile until it's RTM or a little afterward.

Dealing with some drain here and I don't think it's correctly saying battery time correctly. In about a 1/2 hour it charged (QI not USB) from 62% to 100%, this normally would an hour or more over wireless charging.

Not even close to 8.1 for me on my Nokia ICON..

Much better on my 1520. Battery usage and the battery settings app are the only things that seem better on this build.

Re: how is battery life in mobile build 10166 ?

Good, not great. Been using it for about 22 hours now. After I took it off the charger this a.m., it's now down to 29%. I would guess with the usage I've had today I'd expect it to be 45-50%. Can't compare with previous builds as this is my first install.

Significantly better on my M8 than the previous 10149 build. Finally I'm starting to feel battery life is on par with 8.1. Although, judging by posts, I might be in the minority here.

Re: how is battery life in mobile build 10166 ?

For my 730 battery life is 2+ times longer than on build 10149.
While using the device, it is almost as good as on WP8.1 but on standby, it is draining 10% overnight..
(with many energy hungry app tasks disabled at the background. Such as edge and onedrive)

For the sakes of comparison, the 730 with the same apps and same usage, from 100% :

WP8.1 = 30 hours till 20% (8 hours overnight = 2 - 3%)
W10m build 10149 = 13 hours till 15% (8 hours overnight = I don't know, I was charging it each day) :P
W10m build 10166 = 25+ hours till 15% (8 hours overnight = +-10%) (This is the first W10m build that can last 1 full day on my device)

Re: how is battery life in mobile build 10166 ?

Build 10166 is really a battery killer.
Consume too much battery.

Re: how is battery life in mobile build 10166 ?

The previous build lost 50% while I was sleeping, this build only loses a couple % over a number of hours on my Lumia 1520. It's been greatly improved for me.

Re: how is battery life in mobile build 10166 ?

As far as I have experienced, the battery life on my 640-XL was draining fast by 10% in an hour and the phone is only on stand-by with only WiFi connected. I had some workaround with my phone and observed that background apps are eating a lot of battery and I stopped the background process for the apps which I didnt need and did a restart.. Since then my phone can easily last whole day and battery life is almost equal as in 8.1. Build 10149 used to eat a lot of battery but 10166 is way better in battery consumption.. I have almost 8-10 apps running in background and im experiencing a decent battery life on this build.. If you guys are facing battery issues, be sure to check background apps and also swipe down the apps after holding the back button.. I hope this helps as it helped for me.. Thanks :)

Re: how is battery life in mobile build 10166 ?

on my 640 LTE, the battery life is crushingly bad. It's dropping nearly 7%/hour overnight (LTE and WiFi active), drops faster when being used.

I've stopped all background apps and uninstalled a few that I've added, but so far, still looking for the cause of the drain. It also is making the phone take longer to charge, as it's discharging at that rate while trying to charge

Re: how is battery life in mobile build 10166 ?

Hi,
For past one year i am using Lumia 1320, i havent experienced a bad battery life like this after this update relase.
My phone is always hot - during charging, hearing songs, even at using whatsappp . But the UI and speed of OS is improved much better , still required something to improve

Re: how is battery life in mobile build 10166 ?

I can get one full day out of it on my L1520. Which is worse than 8.1, but acceptable for a daily use, so I'm keeping it.

Re: how is battery life in mobile build 10166 ?

I have no real idea but it seems better on my L830 so far

Re: how is battery life in mobile build 10166 ?

Lumia 535 DUAL SIM - on current update works whole day, on previous 10149 it worked max 12h :) so now is much much better :)

I woke up at 6am and now is 30%.

Re: how is battery life in mobile build 10166 ?

Tis is my first mobile build, Lumia 1020. Did hard reset, no backup and battery is comparable to 8.1 imo. Aside from the first day; installing all my apps and setting up start screen, accounts syncing, etc drained it a lot. That's to be expected though.

For those who are still having battery issues, try this...

Turn off "Location Services" for a day or two and report back ;)

Turned off location services this morning and had a noticeable increase in battery life today. The downside though is cortana won't work without location turned on.

After I upgraded (without any hard reset) on my 830 the battery life was decent (not the same as on 8.1, but decent, it could last for a day with low usage), yesterday, after few days, I decided to do a hard reset and since that the battery life has been tremendous. In the morning, when I had 100%, the estimated time remaining showed "1 day 10 hours"... that's something I have never seen even on 8.1, now after 5-6 hours the percentage is 76% and the estimated time 1 day and 5 hours. Don't know if it'll stay like this "forever" and if it's not some weird after reset magic trick, but right now the battery life on 10166 is really great.
