If a similar thread to this one has been posted specifically only for the 820 then please post a link to it and my apologies :(

I know I have posted similar threads to this in other sections of this forum but I wanted more battery usage statistics for the 820.

How long is your battery life and how much do you use your phone ? Eg 20 hours of YouTube or browsing, calling. Etc

Also please indicate if you have updated to Amber or not.

If I play D&D, the battery is empty in 4 hours or so. With normal usage of Calling, Internet, Whatsapp, Metrotube etc. the battery gets empty in a day.

I have Amber on my 820. I use it with about 20 phone calls a day, 5 to 10 texts, 3 or 4 emails, and about 2 to 3 hours of internet (mostly cnet and Windows Phone Central). Plus a few other uses (music and videos). I always get at least two days of use and end up recharging after two days and my battery is still usually at about 20-25%. The only games I play are Temple Run and Checkers. I bought a extra battery but I have not used it yet. Keeping it in reserve. But one of the main reasons I got a 820 was the replaceable battery.

Pretty frequent use usually gives me a day. If i only have a few calls and send a few text during the day, I can get at least a day and a half. If there is heavy game use (Angry Birds, Cut the Rope, etc..) a good 3 hours maybe.

With massive usage for 3 hours (3g connected e surfing almost continously) my battery moved from 100% to ~20% in almost 3 hours. With normal usage the battery drive to empty in a day! ;)

It depends. Sometimes I got 4 hours if I played games, browsed the internet, watched videos etc. Sometimes I got more than one day if using Edge (no 3G). Normally it is between 6-8 hours for me.

Hey, is it true?? Do u get 2days of battery life? I'm getting 15hours of battery backup with normal usage.... Pls help me.. I've kept all the battery saving features, and bocked all the background processes......

It is maddening. I can get a discharge rate somewhere between 0.4% and 0.75% per hour in standby after updating to Amber / GDR2..... and then all of a sudden it will be 1.5%/hour for no reason. Still trying to find the trigger.

That rises to a couple percent/hour if I am surfing.

I got more than 3 days out of mine with just texting and calling.

If I use it as a smartphone - browse the internet, watch a tv episode etc. then 1-2 days

I don't have any background apps (viber, whataspp etc.) I also turn my wifi and data off if I'm not using them.

I only updated to amber on Saturday so haven't been able to compare battery life yet.

Those states are excellent! Looks like you were the one in a million to get such a power efficient lumia 820.

glance, wifi, whatsapp are on. I'm getting higher b.life when I use the phone for communication and web browsing instead of stuffing it from applications

Mine on GDR 3 has dropped significantly, I put this down to GDR3 not being optimised for specific hardware. The Black (Bittersweet shimmer) update should fix it.

What app is that ? And how do you take a screen shot with a lumia ? (sorry I'm a still to be wp owner) but when I get my phone I'd like to get that app you show in the screen shot. I'm coming from Android by the way (btw)

Not sure on that app, but the Windows Phone 8's can screenshot by pressing the power button and the central windows button together.

I mainly use WhatsApp , use internet and Xbox games
normal usage approx 1 day and with gaming and high level stuff like watching big bang episodes =p pr downloading torrents its just around 7-8 hrs

Around 15 Hours based on the statistics in Battery Sense (the best battery app!!!). But usually I left my phone for 7 hours at night in flight mode, so actually without the sleep time I only have 8 hours battery life a day.
In my tests, the 820 is very power efficient when in standby, usually I get around 4% per hour (double tap on, glance always on but I set to always on night mode, 6 background apps, WiFi and 3G on). However, when in use, even though I was just typing an SMS or Word document, the consumption could crank up to 20% per hour. Therefore, its best to leave your 820 in standby as much as you can

Strange (and good) behavior here. After the last update I am getting around 50 hours of battery life.
Same use here: Some navigation, calls, texting, Facebook chat, whatsapp, Skype, all over 3G.

Looks like this last update has improved the stand by power consumption.
:)
