How Surface Will Beat iPad...

I state in the opening paragraph that I'm talking endgame market share. The modern Tablet market is only 2.5 years old. Microsoft didn't introduce Windows until a whole 8 years after the Apple II was released and Windows dominates the PC market.

Apple sells more iPads than any company sells PCs, sure. But all PCs combined dwarf everything Apple sells. So the market for a non-Apple tablet is there.

This thread was my explaing why I believe enterprise and education will latch onto Windows 8 more than iPad.
Sorry didn't catch that but yes, I think in the long term Microsoft will have the bigger share on tablets thanks to Windows 8 which will kick things off. It will be just like the old days of PC vs. Mac.

I'm glad the Surface exist though, Those Android tablets are abysmal.

You are so so wrong there. As a consumption device, the nexus 7 is a superb device at an amazing pricepoint. I bought one for my missus and she hasn't touched her laptop once since July and absolutely loves it.

The netbook proved that there is a market for a small portable windows device.

I like the idea of a tablet, but in the past struggled with the idea as we have 2 decent laptops in our house. I think that for me, price point will be key, if the price starts heading towards laptop price ranges, the I won't bother as I will just get a laptop, but if they can price it cheap enough, then the whole common interface bit intrigues me to the point where I want one
Im leaning towards the pro version for a tablet rather than RT, but depending on the app store choices available, I might consider the RT version, but there are some apps that Id want to sideload so Pro looks more likely
