How to unlock lumia 900? And what effects would it do to my phone.?

Hi guys, i need some help about this "unlocking" thing. Is it necessary to unlock my phone, it is a lumia 900 at&t , it came from the u.s and now it is the philippines. What would the unlocking process do to my unit? Can i still download updates if i unlock my phone? Thanks.

Yes, it is necessary to unlock your phone if you do plan on staying in the Philippines and using the carriers here. To unlock your phone, there are quite a few resources available online that do so, or you can simply contact AT&T.

As for the updates, you can still theoretically receive updates should you unlock your phone.
