My son has my Lumia 640 and I want to upgrade it to CU but of course I cannot use Insider as it will say he is too young. I tried adding my account as an additional account to see if I could register with Insider but it still says the same message.

So do I have to remove his account entirely and swap it to mine as the main account? I didn't really to go through that hassle if I didn't need to.

Forgive me but is there an age restriction?

You could simply log into his account and change his age for now? seems like the simple solution

Apparently so. It seems you have to be 18 to be able to use insider. I can see why though.

I didn't think about editing the birth date on his account. Often the birth date on accounts is not editable for security reasons but it does seem that the Microsoft one is. I'll try that later today. Wouldn't even be a problem of course, if phones didn't have to be on insider to even get the upgrade!
