How's your power consumption? (Coming from 1520 owner)

My battery easily lasts all day with normal internet browsing and streaming music, but if I play certain games the battery drops like a rock. 8-(. So I only choose to play those games if I have a charger handy to maintain charge.

Here is a few questions for people who are losing battery quick with the ICON.

1. What type of coverage do you have for about 75%+ of your day, is this LTE or 3G ?

2. Have you looked over your background running apps, do you have a ton of things running in the background that could have a major effect on battery ?

It seemed with the 928, if I was under almost 95% LTE coverage, I could get almost 1 1/2 to 2 days with moderate use (not too heavy), but, when I am in 3G and very little LTE, my batter lasted almost 1/2 that.... Then some apps, tend to get updates more often than others, that cause a major battery drain, disable all apps that you do not use every day. This should help with battery life...

After a couple of weeks of blocking the Nokia Motion Monitor Beta my battery drain was back to normal. I also got rid of "Battery" as well. I found that was draining power too and since I didn't find it very useful, uninstalled it. But the Motion Monitor app was the biggest vampire and I uninstalled it completely. I should probably give the Nokia beta guys a heads up about the huge battery drain.

Glad you got it sorted.

I get about all day, I left work and it was at 69 percent. I had not charged it since this morning. I was playing some games, listening to music, doing FB stuff, a few phone calls.

My first Icon was not lasting too long but the replacement is much much better :)

Nokia Lumia Icon Power Consumption ... Very good, but had issue last night for first time!
====

I've had my Icon for exactly 16 days now.

After a 100% charge, I'm typically is averaging 48 hours or so - until it gets down to maybe 15%. At lot of 'standby' during this time.
Mainly downloading a few apps, handful of voice calls and texts, some FB Messenger and so on. No video streaming, games etc.

Only four Background tasks run typically:
CNN (for breaking news), Bing Finance (monitoring one stock), Weather Channel (w/live tile) and Insider Pro (with live tile) - which has a VERY impressive battery monitor function and mind boggling battery stats - checkout Inside Pro!

So ... overall ... very good.

HOWEVER ... last night plugged in wall charger at 01:35 pdt.
Finished at 03:52 pdt ... great stats from Insider Pro - shows entire charging cycle increments with Time, % etc. Very cool/

At 07:30 this morning ... the % charged was down to 91% !! ... Setting totally idle from 03:52 (100%) until 07:30. Seemed odd.
At 09:35 ... down to 80% with NO activity on my part. Exact same Background task I mentioned above running. Nothing else.
At 11:32 ... down to 66%. Totally abnormal !

So ... I did a complete shutdown and rebooted.
The problem - whatever it was causing rapid discharging has disappeared.
Charge has dropped only slightly (my normal) to 62% since then, and it is now 15:05 pdt (Tue 4-15).

Actually now, looking at Insider Pro battery stats from last night ... I see the following:

36% at 22:33 - pretty normal to this point - on 2nd day of use since 100 % charge.

After this ... charged started dropping abnormally.
23 % at 00:00 (midnight)
17 % at 01:35
Phone was totally idle at this time, ie no phone calls, FB, texts, etc.

So ... I have no clue what triggered this rapid discharge late last night?

If anyone has any clues, I'm all ears.

thx.mx

I'm getting about 9 or so hours on charge. I'm a college student, so play around with it at school a good deal. Thing is, my 1520 never broke 50% by the end of my really long days on campus, this thing is pretty much about to start going into battery saver. Does this sound normal? Am I still 'breaking the battery in'? Found a great deal on an icon so I picked it up, thinking the 1520 was too big and this was the perfect small phone. Now i'm starting to think my 1520 was the best thing ever. Really on the fence, haha. Will eventually need to sell on one ebay to make up for buying the other... let me know what you guys think.

You got to remember the icon has the same specs of the 1520. I believe. It doesn't have the same battery. With that said, Nokia should not have placed a smaller battery on the icon.

Its normal. Just check on what apps you allow to run on the background. I also carry the dc-18 with me now. I never had to with my 928, but I use the icon alot more now with the update and its great screen size. By the way, DC-18 is only 25 dollars. Its unnoticeable in the pocket.
