HP Elite availability

Big Microsoft event next week in Toronto. Really hoping to see a launch there. HP always has a huge presence there so I'm excited to see how it shakes out.

You don't need to worry as long as you have the money you can buy it a long with everything that you want.
A LOT of people are excited about this phone and all the specs it carries, but I'm actually worried about general availability. Is this gonna be marketed to consumers? Because I thought I read that this was ONLY being marketed (and consequently, supplied) to businesses, and wouldn't be available to the average consumer to purchase?

August 2016.... HP don't mess it up. I'm saving up and I'll have to even wait a bit longer for a possible price drop. Me and my cheap *** 

They cant mess it up, they spent 2 years asking enterprise what they want in a phone and built what they want. The only people that may cry foul are consumers for whom this phone is not made for. Having said that many consumers are most likely going to want g=this phone, similar to Blackberrys of old. Could be the start of a new wave of amazing devices if other manufactures start competing with HP in the business space. Im less and less inclined to wait for a Surface phone, it wont be much better than this or similar to an Elite X3 version 2.

The iPhone 6s plus is already the best smart phone available. The ecosystem plus stellar camera and specs does give it a run for it's money. Not only will it give it a run for it's money but the current model is already better. Continuum is a notch feature which many won't use.

Enterprise has nothing but contempt for iPhones.

I really don't know much about speakers, are the dual 0.6w underwhelming?
I too am waiting for reviews, I got the one plus 3 as I have always used android and Windows Mobile interchangeably. Maybe I'll get the Elite sometime down the road.

Well, if you're not an audiophile like me, they can already be sufficient for you. Android already has louder offerings in terms of speakers: the 1.5W dual front-facing speakers of the Lenovo Vibe X3 and the 3W dual speakers of JBL SoundBoost mod for the Moto Z series (applause for Lenovo!) Wattage of speakers is related to how loud it can produce sound (and also without being distorted much).

Btw, I may purchase a Lumia 830 or 930 anytime soon since their prices went crazy down in our country (almost $117 for 830, $255 for the 930).

:D

WOW, the release date is suppose to be august? WTH. Announce in jan and release 8 month later?

My excitement is allready wearing off. I can usually stay excited for about a month before i move on.

They are dependent on RS1, so they can't release before the anniversary update!

I would imagine most carriers could care less about Windows Phone given the tiny user base. But Microsoft should care, and in this case HP should care. I work for a fortune 100 company and we do millions of dollars in business with HP every year. All of our corporate phones in the US are on Verizon as I would imagine are many large companies. If you want to sell as many phones as possible to businesses, you need to to target all the major carriers businesses use.

I couldn't agree more! UNTIL HP officially announces carriers, availability, pricing, etc. we are all just "subject to the rumor mill" merry-go-round.

Ah I see, maybe it might have something to do with water proofing. I know my Xperia Z2 had something of sorts back then.
The 930, had one once and I thought it was absolutely gorgeous. I bet it would still be a good buy at that price

I hate seeing misinformation being touted as an expert opinion so I have to chime in. As an 'audiophile' you should know that wattage has nothing to do with the quality of a speaker. A poorly made speaker will require more wattage to produce sound and the sound will be more distorted. A high quality speaker can require less wattage and be more clear. Wattage is not a metric for audiophiles and the wattage listed for the B&O speakers on the Elite X3 has no bearing on 'the quality' of the sound. What you would really want to know is the 'sensitivity' of the speaker if you want to rate it but even with that knowledge you'd need to know more about the power source before you could judge it. Before any comparisons can be made between the x3 and another phone we'll have to wait for reviews or more specs from HP.

Here's a decent article explaining why wattage doesn't matter. https://spinditty.com/instruments-gear/Speaker-Watt

Here's a better but more technical article Why Wattage Does Not Matter | The Hi-Fi Page

If someone is a true audiophile, do phone speakers (any phone) really make you happy? I would think you'd want something like software that you can tweak sound with (htc m8 style) and use a decent set of head phones for sound delivery?

Anyway, I just returned my iPhone 6s plus today, and picked up a brand new Oneplus 3 on craigslist for $300 to hold me over until this phone comes out.

I am very excited about it.

I just hope (even though deep down inside I know it will happen) that I am not yet again an early adopter only to see giant sales 6 months down the road where prices are slashed by 60-70%.

I REALLY believe that this phone will finally satisfy what I am looking for.

I used to be devoted to Android. Hated apple anything. Then went with blackberry and deleted google everything. Then bought iPhones, iPads and even apple tv. Then rocked Lumia 1520s, m8s (both flavors), Lumia 950 and XLs...

Now I realized that I just love technology. All of it.

My wife has a 6s plus, kids both have iPad air 2s, 2 tv's running amazon tv, one tv apple tv, wife uses a surface pro 3 for her business, I use a macbook pro 13 dual boot with windows and a one plus 3, still miss my blackberry passport, but BB10 truly is dead.

I guess the point of this is these manufacturer, OS wars and fanboism is kind of pointless.

Google android is cheaper since they will spy on you (flame suit on ;) ), so will Microsoft. Apple will charge more for hardware in place of using ads to target you or crawling your private info for profit. They still do but not to the extreme google does. I guess MSFT is somewhere in the middle.

I don't know where I am going with this, its late. All I know is instead of fighting, lets make this thread about what it was designed for, the Elite X3.

I am very very happy that the phone is almost upon us. It sounds like this may be the coolest thing in a long time in a sea of slabs without flare, useless spec wars and lack of innovation, this is the start of something beautiful!
