HTC 8S WIFI ISSUES - Poor Signal Strength, disconnects, very slow

I just bought the 8s. I set it up and have been having major wifi issues. My computer and old apple iphone 4s have full signal strength for wifi and run very fast. However, my 8s has no signal strength and cant even find the wifi network at times. I will be standing right next to the router and it shows only 1 or two bars max. Additionally, when connected apps take anywhere from 1 min to a couple min to download. The whole internet through wifi is just very slow. Any suggestions on what might be causing this? Also, im debating returning if this doesnt work. Should I just switch to nokia 620? Thanks!

Either replace the device or get a lumia series.
