Windows Central Question

I bought my HTC One M8 because Microsoft said it would be upgraded to Windows 10, and I was looking forward to it. I've been aching for Windows 10 for quite some time since most apps for Windows 8 are dated, and their lack of availability, and limitations when available are severely impacting my professional life. With Microsoft breaking yet another promise and stringing me alone for more months than promised, I need to switch to Android partially in spite, but also to finally move on and get a platform that works with the tools I need to do my job. I hoped that would be Windows 10, but alas, here we are.

What version of Android do I need, and how can I uninstall windows and install Android on my HTC One M8?

While technically I didn't convert an HTC One M8 windows phone to android ... I did cannibalize a windows M8, taking the cameras, charge port, battery, display, back cover etc and combined with the main board of an android such that the frankenphone now boots android but the back says windows!

So I accidentally got the Windows version because I didn't even see the word "Windows" in the post from the vendor on eBay (upon checking agan, it was there)--I assumed the phone only supported Android. If I buy a used Android version that functions well but has typical scuff marks and the like on the screen and sides and back cover, would I be able to just remove the screen and cover of the Windows version and put it on the Android and keep all of the Android pieces? I see in your case that you used many of the components from the Windows phone--did you have to do that for the new version to work or were the components on the Android version just in worse condition so you decided to use the Windows ones?
