HTC WP8x/s look tacky compared to Nokia 920

I have large hands, as well, but a phone spends MOST of its time being carried in a pocket, not in my hands.

I don't want to carry half-a-brick in my pocket, or have my smartphone bulging out like a giant polymer tumor from my jeans, Lumia 900-style.

Again you're enytitled to your opinion. My hands are not big and they are not small. I like a larger screen and quite frankly although my 900 is heavier It not as heavy as I thought it was going to be and having previously used a focus dont notice that much of difference between the two. My phone before that was a tilt 2 and it was heavier feeling than the focus. The size difference to me right now beytween the 8x and the 920 is quite minimal. I would favor the 920 because of the 32 GB option an my like of the n900 form factor and nokia's commitment to product and software for their line. I'll check out the 8x and 920 and ativs at ATT and make a decision for me and which one I like best not based on weight or waht "everybody" thinks or likes. My two cents.

HTC copied lumia design and build, and not to make it obvious they put some additional crap like colored grill and place windows phone inspired. Lumia is sleek, simple yet classy in design. Not to mention original. Who cares abou the weight. And the 8s is inspired by Sony xperia then put colors on it so that it wont look obvious.

At my work there's a lonely Palm Pre charger. It's an original one and is pretty slick and has an usb port. Every day I try to sell the damn thing and people don't buy it on the name alone.

It's being there for years!!!.

I don't think he's a kid. Though judging from his preferences, maybe he's wearing skinny jeans, and probably he's going to match his soon to be green 8x with his green colored skinny jeans. Damn isn't that sexy and also minamalist?

What does that has to do with Palm Pre charger =/

Well, if you want a Nokia DorkPhone, I'm not gonna stop you. There are still people carrying around Treos and BlackBerries on those pocket-protector-style belt-holsters, after all. :D

I use a holster on my Lumia 900 so I can wear it comfortably while riding this;

To this day, I have yet to have any woman complain about their ride on a Harley because of my holstered phone.

Also, I wouldn't be caught dead with an iPhone. In fact, just today I stopped in at Starbucks because I had an aging giftcard I decided to use. Everyone in the place stared at me. Maybe it was the biker dude in Starbucks (probably a little scary to the hipsters), but I think it was because of my gf and myself Browsing on our Lumias. No one called me a dork while I was doing it.

Nothing screams "dork!" louder than fishing a giant, heavy Lumia 900 out of one's pocket and dropping it on the table at a restaurant with an audible "thud," while the restaurant shakes afterwards.

Sorry, L900 feels too big, thick and heavy.

And if you think "a few inches here and there don't make much of a difference," I suggest you avoid hopping into the Bay Area dating pool! :D

I am surprised.

First off, you drop a L900? I mean, aren't you afraid of breaking the table because of the L900's weight? I mean, it can cause a mini earthquake from what you are saying.

Also, you don't fish for a L900 if it is that big, you trawl for it.

Besides, being this thick, you shouldn't be able to fit in your pocket, instead you will need a field pack that can carry 8 days worth of rations to just carry this beast of a phone.

Sarcasm aside, please, insist on your choice if you must. There's no need to do baseless attacks of a phone that doesn't even do what you are trying to suggest.

Hey guess what every f king phones look the same on the market... they are all look a like, we could discuss for hours on that subject but it's only when Apple's fight against Android and samsung which was favouring Windows Phone that you guys started to cared about it... so can we just stop *****ing each other and manufacturers for that... have you created those phones? Does it really change anything in your life?

Let the big companies take care of that, if it's copying which I don't believe it is, than Nokia will sue HTC, but it wont happen...

I like the form factor of the Nokia 920 as opposed to the longer and more narrow HTC 8x.

My current phone is an EVO4G, so a phone that weighs a half an ounce more isn't going to be an issue.

I'm really digging the 8x tennis ball yellow. It looks better than Nokia's taxi yellow. Best comparison will be in real life. Things can tend to look different on a computer screen.

Note 2 is thinner and lighter than the 920. Thats saying something considering its a 5.3" screen device.

Also though, the 8X ear piece is ugly to me. I like the nokia design much better. Just wish they could have made it thinner and lighter.

Glad I am not up for renewal this quarter. I get to wait till the good 8.5 devices launch.

Well, given Samsung isn't including wireless charging and OIS with the phone...although the Note 2 is actually a full inch longer in display.

Heh. I love how a subjective comment can start a whole s***storm about how heavy phones certain phones are than others.

Come on people. People buy what they like. I'm sure there are some HTC faithfuls out there that have been craving the juicy look of the Lumias on their HTC devices...

That isn't too transparent is it? ;)

Choice isn't bad either. Heavy or light, that's why people can buy what is for their needs. Like how people buy the iPhone. I disapprove, but its their money and their choice. So be it. No need to beat it over and over again.

Hi All,

First some background:
I am new to these forums, my first smartphone was a Nokia e71x which I loved for the solid quality fit and finish it had, but the Symbian OS left allot to be desired...So switched to iPhone 4 when it was released. Enjoy my iPhone 4 , but have grown tired of iOS, and a recent upgrade to iOS 6 has not produced enough innovation for me to justify the upgrade to an iPhone 5.

I am very impressed with the Nokia 920 and WP8 , so plan to switch when it is released later this year.

Now for the subject of this post:
I have been looking at various images and videos for both upcoming Nokia and HTC WP8 devices and keep coming to the same conclusion...

HTC WP8x/s look like play things...very plastic-ee/disposable , and that colored speaker grille just don't look right at all.

Nokia 920 looks solid, the fit and finish appear well thought out by the designers, and seems like a device that will remain functional well past a 2 year service contract.

Nokia 820 resembles the offerings from HTC in my opinion...not impressed.

As an iPhone 4 user I have become accustomed to high quality hardware, and I would think that other iPhone users making the switch to WP8 will be most satisfied with the Nokia 920.

Just my 2 cents...
The 820 came out before the 8x so your comment about the 820 looking like the 8x is void.
