Pronk, I can personally relate to your frustration with the Mac Connector. At least you can actually manage to get the software to detect your phone. I'm wearing out my USB ports with the continual re-plugging.
As for the battery issue you're experiencing, I used a Lumia 710 a few months ago on Three's network and had no issues that you're reporting. Some nights I continuously charge for the alarm to kick off in the morning, while other nights I allow the battery to completely drain (the charger quickly replenishes the juice in the morning).
I'd recommend getting the handset looked at as something doesn't sound right - even switching between carriers shouldn't drain it that quickly.
As for the Me tile, there have been a number of issues with notifications not working correctly for Facebook (I've also noticed this problem). Unfortunately we believe this to be an issue on their end, something that's out of Microsoft's hands.
