I can't text on my phone it stopped working

When I click on the msg screen it goes right back to the same screen and won't let me text

Reboot your phone. If that doesn't fix it make sure backup is enabled and hard reset your phone (Open settings, scroll down and tap on about (if on windows 10 tap system, then tap about), then tap reset your phone and confirm various things till it reboots and resets).
