I found the wireless charging back covers

Does the cover work with Otterbox?

a) does the cover vary is shape, preventing the Otterbox closure to snap tight
b) does it charge through the Otterbox

I only have a minimal interest in getting this, since you have to buy at least 200 dollars worth of stuff to make it more useful than a couple extra usb cords and batter adapters.

separry51 did you get the back-plate and charger online or in-stores. I head they are on backorder from the website and cant find them in any stores

$40????? No wonder the phone is so cheap. I didn't expect it to be so much. Does anybody know if it adds thickness or when it goes on sale?

Is the charging cover slippery like the original cover? I really want more grip on my phone without having to use a case.

I ordered both online. That was on Monday and I requested 1 day shipping. Got em Tuesday.

It does add a mm or two to the thickness of the phone but it is worth it. Also because of my corp discount, I paid a lower price for both the cover and plate.

I am very disappointed about how limited nokia has been with verizon. Other companies have colors, we can't even get a wireless charging case in 822 in grey. And plus i feel like the second i buy the 822 they will release the 920

This is an older thread, but was wondering if anyone has found the wireless charging cover online for a realistic price, as per usual Verizon likes to bend their customers over for those extra dollars instead of actually including features.

I have not, But I had this exchange with a verizon on line chat "Specialist" Yesterday.
Akeiba: Yes it does have wireless charging capability.

wireless: What is needed for that to be done?

Akeiba: You would need to purchase the charger that does not have to be plugged into the wall it will be on the accessories page.

wireless: Do you have a link for it?

Akeiba: Were you ordering the phone today?

Akeiba: ClickHereForNokiaLumia822WirelessCharger

wireless: Perhaps. I wanted to understand it fully first.

wireless: So with this charger, I would be all set to wirelessly charge?

Akeiba: Correct.

So I confirmed this with a phone call and ordered the phone, the rep told me that it will wirelessly charge with the base, It did not need a back. I have a distinct feeling that verizon will let me down. (Crazy I know) But one way or another, I am joining the 822 owners tomorrow.

That "specialist" is probably an idiot. Unless something changed recently, you will need to buy the wireless charging back separately. Akeiba might have been thinking of the HTC 8X which has built in wireless charging on the Verizon model.

When you get the phone, look at the back cover and see how it compares to this image.

I will. And then I will call verizon and have them send me the cover for free....

I guess the benefit of a sealed phone/battery unit is Verizon can't remove the wireless charging back plate and make it optional. Typical move on their part.

Got my cover for free. Only took 3 phone calls. But I got it. Now the question is, Should I be worried about Wireless charging baking the phone? Heat is not great for the battery, and it get's warm. Should I leave it on overnight?

Just ordered the red 822 from Verizon for my wife this past weekend with the charging plate and it's to be delivered tomorrow. I also asked the online sales assistant if the plate was all I needed and I was told yes.

Guess I'll be making some phone calls tomorrow. Suggestions to reduce the number of calls from 3?

Has anyone confirmed if the red limited edition version has either included wireless charging, or possibly offer a red wireless back?

I suspect the red will suffer the same problem as the grey version, the only choice will be to get a black or a white wireless back..

I would imagine it might be the same as the grey...on the Grey Nokia+Verizon has said they have decided not to sell it due to demand for that color.

If anyone is interested I was able to get a grey wireless charging back that was created by Nokia as a sample for Verizon...you could PM me for details.

Thanks!

I suggest you facebook them now and get ready. Then call back and talk to someone else and confirm that you only need the plate. Then ask them to text you that information. Document, Document.
