I generally argue with Thurrott but on the Surface 2, I agree

I don't understand why people think automatically that anyone is selling tablets at a loss. The asking price is usually double what the thing cost to manufacture. The Surface RT only costs $277 dollars to produce. It should have been priced $350 at release, with the keyboard cover included.

I think I would have bought it at $399 and definitely if the touch cover was included.

$399 w/cover is probably the way to go for surface rt. get millions of them out there and the apps will follow.
android started with nothing and slowly made its way by selling cheap smartphones and tablets to the masses. ms must somehow do the same in order to catch up.
it would also help if they could manage to build desktop free, totally touch friendly version of windows rt. include MOBILE app versions of office, outllook, texting (like google voice) etc.

I agree with Martin MC. The Surface is a great piece of hardware. MS 8RT is very good software. I believe that the only thing which has let down the RT is the slow Tegra 3 processor. But with the Surface 2 I believe this will be fixed!!! Add in the fact that we will have the SURFACE 2 PRO for under ?1000 then this makes it a very viable choice for hardcore professionals. I think that Microsoft have hi-cupped with the RT but are learning from their mistakes. They have not rushed onto the i-PAD bandwaggon but have taken their time and Panos' team have done a great job in developing the Surface 2 and 2 Pro. I wait excitedly at the front of the queue to get a Surface 2!!

The iPad mini is our selling the iPad. 450 is a decent price point, but not great.
