HTC 8X screen is bigger and has higher ppi. Camera is better, CPU is slightly better and has more RAM. On the other hand Lumia 625 has a SD card slot and since it's a Lumia, probably better support. But I would say HTC is better than the Lumia 625.

The 8X is a great phone at that price.

To repeat and summarize the pros- an excellent display and camera, and I've had no problems with mine, and I updated it to 8.1 via the developers route.

The cons, as mentioned, include no SD card or Lumia apps, and I'll add fairly short battery life compared to many others.

All in all, I bought mine for the great display and quality build, and I paid a lot more than that.

The 8X may not officially get 8.1 (T-Mobile US has basically abandoned it), but you CAN update it yourself. I did and have zero problems, except the HTC Hub app which loses its Live Tile feature. I think most reported problems can be solved with a factory reset after each update.

It's a nice update to a great phone.

*sigh* I do wish Lumia owners would stop spreading misinformation. HTC 8X was one of the first devices confirmed to be getting WP8.1. In regards to the rest of what you said. All devices have their lemons, if you go to the Lumia sections you'll find many issues there. It doesn't mean you'll experience, or even see any of them faults with your device.

On topic with the OP. I would say it's definitely a nice device that for that kind of money is very good value. Biggest let down with the 8X is without doubt it's storage capacity. Other than that, it's a fine device that is a pleasure to use and hold.

ok so it seems there's a consensus to keep it at this price. I thought that at the same price range, there would be more competitive offer in the USA.

And do you have some advice to protect it ? a shell case ? A flip cover ?

I have two different cases that I was able to get very decently priced via ebay.
Incipio DualPro, which I use 90% of the timeWP_20140721_16_39_25_Pro.jpg Love the cyan color of the shell, basically the case is rubber inside surrounded by the outer hard shell.

Also have an otterbox defender, nice case but a bit too bulky for everyday use, but great protection all the way through.

Is it normal that it's incredibly long to charge it through USB ?
Also, are you using screen protectors ? Some references to recommend me ?
Additionally, i will travel with it so i would need to protect it, a shell is enough ? Or perhaps a pouch ?
Thanks :)

What do you consider long? I've had my 8x for nearly two years and never felt it took too long to charge.

Btw. Think my 8x is a very good phone and will probably hang on to it even after my contract is up. I see no reason to change.

I usually use the power adapter to recharge my 8X. From 15-20% to 100% takes less than 2 hours.

FWIW, I have used red 8X (Verizon) for about 1.5 years without a case or screen protector (Carry in my front pocket everyday). No scratches on screen or body.
