I may have messed up my 521's SD Card, what do I do?

I went to this rite aid with my mom to try and print a picture out, so I put in my SD card into the slot, and what ended up happening was that the machine couldn't read it. So then I put the SD card back in my phone, and it starts bugging out. The lock screen froze at the password, and it sat there for a while until it actually unlocked. After that, I get this little message saying that the SD may have problems, and that the phones going to fix it, and if I press yes to restore(i think) the app list has grayed out apps with unavailable under them.
Did I just brick the SD card or something? Or do I have to let the apps sit there until they become available?
Pressing no on the SD card needs a fix screen lets me use my apps, but if I turn off the phone and turn it back on, I get the same message.

Okay, format your (micro)SD card.

That's the most likely solution.

did you go to eject sd card in your settings first ??? if not its probably just corrupt, try reformat

My phone was off when I did that though, not sure if that means I should have gone to the eject SD card first, though.
How do I format the SD card?

phone off should be fine, you can format via the phone if its reconised or use a pc, is it a cheap card ??? they corrupt really easily

Insert card only when powered down, It will ask to be mounted, say yes.

It's this card I got at Radio Shack a while ago, a san disk 16GB.
Looks like I might have to reformat, after I do that, how do I get all the apps and photos back?

San Disk is a well respected maker. I never heard of quality issues with them. As bozza72 said, the cards are just easily upset by nature...

Anything not backed up to the cloud or your PC is just gone...

Unless you plug the card into your PC and use a Data Recovery Program before formatting.

Unmounting is really only necessary so the OS makes sure no programs are using any files from the card, because those programs may stop responding, or if any program is writing something to the card, that it waits for the process to finish so the written file doesn't get corrupted.
Unmouning before turning off is not needed, the OS does this by itself in that time that it takes since you hold the power off button until the phone actually turns off.

If you turn off a linux computer it will tell you all these things and more.

It's more likely that the printer did something funny to the card.

Stick the card into a PC (with adapter, usb reader) and try copying files to the PC (because otherwise you will lose data), and then format the card. Or format it in the phone itself. If the card fails, just take it back, they have 10 years warranty nowadays.

Jan... No offence... I've borked an SD card just taking it out from a powered down phone without unmounting. It worked perfectly fine right up until I did that and I forgot that one time... Bam. Card ruined. It can happen from not unmounting in my experience... If the phone is shut down there is no way it was still writing to the card when I pulled it.

​My user manual says unmount, power down, then pull. How is that not safe? Or what is required?

You have an app purchase history at windowsphone.com. Sign in with the MS account on your phone. Under the phone name is 'purchase history' with a link to reinstall any app you have ever gotten from the store.

Thanks so much guys, I formatted it and after about 15, all my apps are(and some new ones, too!)
Either way, always unmount, turn off, and take it out, just to be doubly sure.
