I want my start screen to show desktop when required, how can I do this?

i want my start screen to show "desktop" when required

I used to be able to togle between "tiles" and "desktop"
no longer can i do so

Sounds like you upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10. If you did so. the start screen has been removed and replaced with the start menu.

if you want an windows 8.1 like start menu: Go to settings-personal settings-start-start on full screen.
