I want to switch but the lack of apps scares me

I'm running the Facebook Beta and haven't had it crash or do anything silly on 8.1.

I flashed my 920, declined the restore option and immediately installed the dev preview app and 8.1 then installed my apps manually. My phone has been flawless since - I even connect to my work network using a proxy, which is not supposed to be possible in 8.1 according to WPC.

I still haven't found an app that I wanted that's not there.

That's the crux of the marketing push by Android and apple. They cite 43-zillioon apps compared to 12,000 (or whatever) in the windows store. It's not about how many apps are there, it is about the useful apps that everyone likes to use.

Now that wp8.1 has transparent tiles, Cortana and a whole host of improvements to the look and feel, new-smartphone phone buyers are going to see that the apps they need and want are there. Providing they are smart enough to understand that quantity doe snot indicate quality. In fact, the reverse is actually true. There are so many crappy apps for Android that at a guess, probably only about 3% of the total ever stay installed for longer than five minutes.

Also, the sooner Android people wake up to just what they are giving away with Permissions they accept, that 3% will shrink again. But, I think I am hoping for too much common sense to prevail there. :D

You can switch to Google search I under advanced setting page on IE.
