IE Ads Working, Eating Chrome Share like a Lion eats his food

IE will have a tough time shaking off its bad reputation with a lot of people though - it's actually been a bit more unstable than Chrome or whatnot. I have to give it props though for crash recovery - I wouldnt have noticed if it didn't tell me.

I decided to try it, but the deal-breaker was lack of add-ons like a decent ad blocker, but the pinning of webpages and other stuff is really nifty.

Just wanted to point out that you are wrong, maybe you just haven't discovered it.

IE has an "Inspect Element" option too. If you open F12 Developer Tools, right underneath the HTML tab there is a "mouse icon". Click that icon, and then you can select any element on the webpage.

Try it out! :)

Oh I see. That's a little better. The padding and margin info under the layout tab is horrible though. I need to see that in the browser, the generic square with number values gives me no indication relative to the other elements on the page. And the CSS tree kind of sucks still.

I'll keep checking, especially after IE11 to see if they improve it. But I don't find it nearly as effective as Chrome.

I use IE10, Chrome and Firefox, and fid IE10 does a better job for most things. I work in IT and I've found Chrome over the last couple years taking a nose dive and becoming a hog. as far as ads, I don't ever really see them anymore, I just ignore them.

IE 10 and Firefox combo for me, not a fan of Chrome. IE10 for everyday browsing, Firefox for testing and debugging.
For ad blocking in IE, you can use a custom style sheet in the accessibility settings. I only block Facebook and Google ads though of course, they don't need any more money...

I don't have an opinion on the IE vs Chrome debate, both are good at different things.

I would however point out that by blocking only Google ads, you are depriving the content creator of revenue and he likely needs it. May I suggest that you block the truly obnoxious sites (huffpo etc) and not some guy trying to make a few bucks from YT videos or a blog? Adblock etc offer per-domain blocking as well.

Thanks,

Does anyone have a definitive breakdown of the discrepancies between NetMarketShare and other metrics? I believe the argument is that NMS weights their figures based on population of the respective markets, but to me, that means it only tells half the story. Succeeding in more technologically inclined regions is as important as having great overall usage share.

While many like to harp on Trident, I find the biggest problem with IE is interface. It sucks on all clients across the desktop, tablet and phone.

Wonder how many chrome installs are because people don't know to uncheck the box on an adobe flash update.

You get a cookie. that is the most annoying thing since toolbar install of Yahoo.
