If apple can do it alone, why not Microsoft Lumia?

@TLRtheory: Now to shave syllables:
Microsoft starter
Microsoft Selfie
Microsoft midrange
Now, The flagships:
Magnus.
Lumia.
Magnus pro.

just keep the original name, but add codename like HTC One (M8) [M8 = codename]

Lumia 530 (Basic)
Lumia 535 (The 5) [5 inch phone, 5MP rear, 5MP FFC, there has 3 5's]
Lumia 630 (Starter)
Lumia 635 (Starter 4G)
Lumia 730 (Selfie)
Lumia 735 (Selfie 4G)
Lumia 830 (Glamorous)
Lumia 930 (Iconic)
Lumia 1020 (Eagle)
Lumia 1320 (XL Starter)
Lumia 1520 (Loud)

Whatever they do, EVERY phone should have a removeable battery and sd expansion slot.

I guess I might as well get into the naming game too. =0)

Simply "Lumia" with one letter to represent a line, along with one number to represent generation, and a maximum of one word following the letter/number to denote special features (such as dual sim).

e for the entry level phones (5XX and 6XX lines)
m for mid range phones (7XX and 8XX lines)
s for shooter phones (1020 replacement)
t for top-line phones (9XX)
x for phablets

Then you could have additions like DUAL, L, MINI, SPORT, METAL for extra features such as dual-sim, larger screen, smaller screen (4"), water-resistance, metal casing.

So Microsoft's offerings could be something like
Lumia e1
basic 4.5" screen, no dual sim
Lumia e1 DUAL
Same as e1, but with dual sim
Lumia e1 L
same as e1, but with a 5" screen

Lumia m1
730/830 style phone

Lumia s1
1020 successor

Lumia t1
920/930 successor

Lumia x1
1320/1520 successors

AND TO NOTE, I have tried to keep up on the thread, but if someone already said this same naming system, I apologize!!

So something like:
Lumia x2 is the 1020?

Nearly 9 pages of replies(if you count 10 posts each page) and we are still arguing over the naming scheme.

I'm sure if Microsoft wanted to go all in like Apple the most important thing on their mind would be to get the naming scheme right and they'll sit and wait for the sales to roll in. 😎

No that is not how thing work, could someone please talk about advertising, software or something else Microsoft could do?

One thing I have in my mind.

Microsoft, or Windows Phone in this case, still has a big edge in one key area.

*PHOTOGRAPHY*.

While recent attempts from Android and iOS are catching up, Windows Phone has had a very big lead.

Windows Phone is currently the only OS that offers advanced camera controls for nearly all it's devices, from the low end to the high end. They could make a big advertisement on TV(or split it into parts) and it would go like this:

-----------Lumia 535 ad---------------

From the operating system that powered a 41 MP camera, comes a budget friendly device that meets all your needs!

And then say all they want about how smooth the phone is, MS bundled things and a great Lumia Camera app!

-----------Lumia 730 and 830 ad----------

From the operating system that powered a 41 MP camera come devices that offer a flagship experience for half the price!

And then talk about the great camera sensors, screen and so on...

----------Lumia 930 and 1520 ad(or their successors)-----------

From the company that made the OS powering over 90% of global computers, the same one that brought tons of innovation and made huge strides in technology comes two flagship devices without compromise!

And then talk about the extremely amazing cameras, how the phones offer even profession photographers DNG and 4K.

Extremely powerful specifications, and so on...

Any ideas and feedback on how Microsoft can advertise it's devices better?

First, Sony*. Second, great idea!

Third: My idea:
Just the phone, then a website link. About 4 seconds. For the curious to investigate.

Recently Huawei has said that it doesn't have any plans of making new windows phone devices which is now the news on every website, just a simple google search of "windows phone" returns with only that Huawei story, but if apple has made it alone since the first iphone, I don't think Microsoft should be afraid at all, it has the best phone manufacturing plants,it shouldn't be begging over new manufacturers, it should now concentrate on windows phone and the hardware division.
Microsoft has my backup! Am not going anywhere! Even if I rant sometimes that am sick and tired, I still find windows phone to be a better OS than there has ever been!, I was here when instagram arrived and I will be here when candy crush debuts!, let the devs whine, let manufacturers whine, time will come, they will have to give up!

Maybe start by reading trough this:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NAZTCTW...ag=hawk-future-20&ascsubtag=UUwpUvbUpU2889366

It will give you a very good idea of what NOT to do in the industry and then maybe compare it to what Microsoft are doing ?

Then you can also take a look at this article:

New questions in mobile ? Benedict Evans

You are asking a very tough question.. the best you can do is educate yourself and try to answer it for yourself :)

How about the Microsoft Thor, Microsoft Odin, Microsoft Zeus, Microsoft Hercules, etc? THOSE are good, strong and commanding names.
