If I buy a 900 no contract ($449), do I need a 2yr plan commitment for LTE?

Ty

Dangish, sorry I misspell your name.

You say "at&t sells windows phones at no commitment to people who already have an account".

By the way, the box about the $449 "no-commitment" Lumia 900 one sees today at ATT.com/lumia -> pre-order-now -> learn more-> info, does not say anything about having an account.

Even though I have a u-Verse account I have bought modem hardware from ATT.com/equipment online from, are you saying without an ATT wireless cellphone account, I cannot just go to a corporate store on April 9 and hand over $449 and get it?

Thank you.

I have used WinMo from way back (early 2000s) and had a $39.99 unlimited data and texts called a "PDA plan". The guy at the AT&T store told me I HAD to change my plan because I was going from 3G to LTE. He said that my plan did not support LTE.

He told me I also had to pay $50 for the 5GB plan as he told me that's the plan you HAVE to have to 'hot spot' (tethering) with your phone ... internet sharing is not allowed/supported with the 3GB plan.

So instead of paying $40 for unlimited, they switched my plan to $50 for 5GB and tethering.

Is the 5GB plan MANDATORY to use tethering? Has anyone else been told this? Has anyone else been told their previous grandfathered unlimited plan will not support LTE so you HAVE to change ... and there is no real unlimited plan now for LTE?

From what I'm reading here, I have gotten screwed big time!
