Considering buying a phone from EBAY

Considering buying an 830. It is brand new sealed in box, but per EBAY this phone will not be covered by Nokia warranty. So if i buy this phone, I am on my own $ to get any repairs ? Anyone else been in this situation ?

Yes you are on your own $ to get repairs. Make sure the seller can be trusted.

Alternatively you can try your luck in our marketplace :)

Thanks for your imput , since the warranty is important to me I will wait until the 640 is available from B & H

We have purchased several phones on Ebay with no problems. As always, the issue is, what do you get for what price. Recently we purchased an HTC 8X, new in the box, Red, Verizon branded, no warrantee, no returns, excellent seller reputation for $125..00. That was an acceptable price for us and the phone has been working perfectly.

As always, do your research and know what you are getting.

Good luck to you.

I've bought (and sold) many phones on eBay. I have no complaints about the sellers I've bought from, and as a seller I do everything in my power to make sure my buyers say the same about me.

Look at the seller's feedback, and also keep a sharp eye out for any anomalies. eBay does offer some protection if you have problems and the seller isn't helpful. Virtually all sellers are on the up-and-up, so I wouldn't worry about it. If you find what you're looking for at a price you're good with, go for it!

Likewise...have bought and sold many. Do your research...feedback is king and read carefully. I tend to only buy from people who have north of 50 feedback and 100%. So far, never had an issue.

I strongly urge you to consider purchasing the Square Trade warranty if offered. Have bought 5 phones from EBAY for myself and my daughter. No bad experience so far. If it is new in box, chances of getting a clunker are almost nonexistent as long as the seller is reputable. If it is "new/other" or "used", read the description carefully and pay attention to the pictures. As mentioned above, it's crucial to note seller feedback. My daughter recently had to use her Square Trade warranty for a cracked screen on her S5 and the process was smooth as silk. Most sellers are happy to answer questions prior to the sale.

I recently got a fantastic deal on an ATT Branded Lumia 830 refurbished by an eBay seller. It looks mint and no issues. The price was too good to not take a chance and the sellers feedback scores and reviews were excellent. I got a device that looks and acts brand new for approximately 1/2 price.

I also know eBay will help me if the buyer slips me a bad product and won't take care of it. In my experience eBay sellers will try their best to make things right.
