If I do an optional cumulative update for Windows 8.1 will that include any Windows 10 stuff?

Windows Central Question

I want to ensure that some update won't sneak in that will install some Windows 10 "get now" garbage, or something that I thought was optional and would now be deemed important.

I am trying to avoid Windows 10, because this machine is really a server. I intend to put Server 2012 R2 on this box at a later time, but haven't gotten to it.

If I were you, I'd let optional stuff remain optional until the deadline passes. Another month or so of leaving out optional things shouldn't hurt.
