If I have Cortana add an appointment to 'my calendar' it appears in the calendar app but not Outlook, why?

if I have Cortana add an appointment to 'my calendar' it appears in the calendar app but not Outlook

When I have Cortana "add an appointment to my calendar" or "add an event to my calendar" (the default calendar is my Windows calendar) I can see the appointment in the calendar app in Windows 10. If I go to Outlook on Chrome (on my same laptop) or my calendar on my cell phone which is the same Outlook calendar the appointment/event does not appear. I tried to "sync now" in both Chrome and the phone but the appointment/event does not appear. I've tried over and over and verified I'm running the same calendar... where are these "appointments/events" going????
