If/When exclusivity period ends...

Question,
for those who purchased Lumia 920 units and had them unlocked (e.g., Rogers), what would happen if the exclusivity period ends? Does that mean people who may had had limited functionality (e.g., no internet sharing) would now be able to flash a new ROM that is available that would make the phone a TRUE carrier unlocked phone? Would a new unlock code be necessary, etc?

Never done this before so I'm curious regarding the process.

Odds are we'll get an unbranded rom after the first major update and be able to so just that.

no you don't get unbranded ROMs if you purchase the phone full price from a carrier.

Is this what happened with other Lumias that were previously exclusive to certain carriers but now are not?
For my purposes, if I all I lose is internet sharing, I don't really care as I've never used that feature.
