With MS's bet on Android apps, its predominance on the desktop space and a placeholder SMS app in Windows 10, it surely seems like MS is in the perfect place to bet on a true iMessage competitor. Would we ever see one?
Why bother when RCS will be the new standard soon. Even Apple will have to join in or lose out
But is RCS gaining any serious cross-carrier traction beyond a couple random carriers?
RCS Universal Profile is supported by both Google and Microsoft so I suspect that when, not if, it gains traction with carriers then Apple will have no choice but to follow by implementing RCS support and ditching iMessage.
