This isn't necessarily windows 8 but my secondary laptop is installing windows 7 home premium(Because windows vista sucks) and I wanted to know how long should it take to get past the checking compatibility stage?
Typically not long at all (on a clean running system) if you have a slow processor and viruses and your system isn't well taken care of, well then that all takes into effect. But I would say on a clean system 5 minutes tops
No malware or viruses, Im incredibly protective over my technology and have antivirus on my laptop, My laptop passes the system requirements for windows 8 nevermind windows 7 xD taking wayyy longer than 5 minutes. Suggestions?
Its a Toshiba satellite pro, relatively old, 2gb RAM, 1.7 ghz dual core processor, Currently running windows vista home premium, upgrading to 7 home premium. Before you say I need more ram to do things like gaming, this is my backup computer, all I will use is IE
There was no error code it just said the upgrade was not successful, didn't even say why it failed. What do you want to know about the bios, and I have a usb for my wireless mouse and an ethernet cable plugged in
You should talk to MS support then. You're asking for help, but no one can help you from the info you're providing. Maybe MS has a knowledge base on that specific model with users having the same problem.
Computer seems fine, only thing that I can say is, something with the drivers for your hardware while installing, or an updated/non-updated bios.
