Hello

thanks to many of you I have learned plenty of thing about WP 8.1. Now I'll try to show a solution I found to this exremely important (at least for me)issue on attaching PDFs to existing emails (maintaining topic and history). For me that was one of the main limitations of the WP. Still don't understand the way MS manages attachement handling.

Ok, let's start. For example you have downloaded from your company's site two docs - invoice and packing list and you have to attach these docs to an existing email and send to various recpinients. With WP 8.1 these docs will go strait to download folder. Now, we all know that native WP email App will not allow get these docs from that folder - it only opens picture hub. The way to actually sent this email is opening your Outlook.com email inbox (or the one you have) in IE11 browser of your phone, then selecting "full version" - not the mobile, and afterwards, you can open your email thread and attach using file picker just like you do it on your laptop.

I know that this is ugly solution, but we may face a situation when we urgently should send some docs (I know that I will face these situations), and this way it will work perfectly. I still wondering when Microsoft will allow multiple attachementes from folders and Offfice.

Hope this will be useful for you.

Bump. This limitation is killing me. The BIG sales point of windows phone was the full functionality of Office and Outlook. Now, the OneDrive access in Office hub is great, but I can't get to it from attachments? You CAN in SOME cases tap ... and there is an option to "share" (this works for XLS and DOC files) (oh but like the OP says, it only works for new emails, not existing threads you are needing to attach to)

Here is another dumb limitation I have found:

From OneDrive, open a PDF. Then the only option is "share this page". So unlike the above where you get to "share" this time you only get "Share page". ALl that does is give you a link to your Onedrive stored file. This is a great OPTION to have if it is a big file, but what about small files? I would just prefer to attach them. Plus, it forces the recipient to log into OneDrive, which they may or may not even have an account for! Bad.

By the way, I am ALSO noticing that documents on my phone are not all available in Pocket File Manager or Pocket Explorer. For example: Pocket Explorer doesn't even SHOW the documents folder. Just Pictures, Music and Video. Pocket File Manager shows a Documents folder, but it clearly is a DIFFERENT Documents folder, because it is not showing my documents. For that matter, WHEN I PLUG MY PHONE IN, I can't for the life of me figure out how to get office documents off my phone. Where ARE they? I did figure out that if you open an attachment in an email, it goes into the Office Hub under "opened attachements", and if you open the file, you can select "save as..." to save it to your phone or to your OneDrive. So I figured I would save it to my phone. Done. Now it is on my phone. How can I get it when I plug my phone in? How can I see it in Pocket File Manager or Pocket Explorer? WHERE THE HECK IS IT!?

Lastly, some apps have the ability to download files for Youtube, for watching when you have no wifi. Tubedownload is my favorite. But do you think those files would be available to me for transferring off the phone to my PC? Yeah right. I know, I know, that is the apps fault. But keep in mind, even if I write a letter and tell the app maker to fix it so the files get saved into any of the Pocket File Manager folders, I still won't be able to see them on my PC when I plug in.

UPDATE: I just figured out that if you use Pocket Explorer, you can add all of the folders that aren't showing so that it matches the screen you see on your PC when you plug in. This is good news. But the Office docs still don't show up there. OMG, I just pasted an XLS file into Documents on my PC, and it shows up now on my phone, and then BAM all of the email documents that I "saved to my phone" suddenly showed up on my phone under documents. But they STILL don't show up on the PC screen when I am plugged in! LOL. I'll try refresh. Nope. I'll try unplugging the phone and pluggin it back in. Yup! There they are. This is a bit of a mess guys. What's the deal?

So, there is a refresh problem on the PC when you make changes in Pocket Explorer while being plugged in. The refresh button on the phone in Pocket Explorer does work. So drag and drop copying from phone to PC seems to work fine, albeit you have to refresh your phone to see the changes on the phone, and you have to unplug and plug back in to see the phone changes on the PC. Fix that please.

I think this issue is directly related to the issue of not seeing the Office docs in the documents folder. By the way, can I delete the stupid "Sample Documents" from office hub? They don't show up anywhere in pocket explorer or on the PC, but they take up space on my screen when I am browsing my office files on my phone.

Thanks, it's a very nice trick. But I really don't know if this is a WP only limitation.

iOS e-mail client actually does that?
